As moms we spend the majority of our time in the kitchen. You’ve got breakfast, snack, snack, lunch, snack, snack, snack, dinner, dessert, and then snack. Do your kids snack as much as mine do? I can’t be the only one.
We’ve tried to set limits, but they just don’t seem to stick around for long. That’s an area that defiantly needs to be worked on, but I digress.
Since we as moms spend so much time in the kitchen it’s nice when we have tools that make the job easier and faster.
I’m all about finding ways to minimize my time cooking dinner. I fantasize with the idea of prepping a handful of dinners at a time, but I get weird about my food sitting in the fridge for a few days uncooked. In my head that means that once I cook it, I need to eat it within 24-48 hours and let’s be honest, that isn’t a possibility. Yeah, I could cook smaller meals but having leftovers makes for easy lunches.
Do you see the conundrum I’m in?
If you have any tips comment below and help a mom out.
Anyway, if you need help planning out 2 weeks or more of dinners and want to save money at the grover store check out these two posts.
So what kind of tools do I have in my kitchen that make my job as Top Chef 10x easier?
Well, I’m glad you asked! Let’s get into it.
This is a gift straight from the hands of Jesus himself. Not even kidding. I freaking love mine and desperately can’t wait to upgrade. The version I have they don’t even make anymore. (Mine doesn’t have a carafe option.)
No, it’s not an espresso machine but it’s the next best thing. You can make a strong 4ounce cup and use it like a coupel shots of espresso, you can make a mutlitide of different size cups of coffee, and you can even brew iced coffee.
Most people rave about the Keurig and I have never been able to get behind it. Why?
Well first off, I think the pods are so expensive and I’ve heard so many people complain that their Keurig breaks after a year or two and that’s it. The number of pods and Keurig machines adding to the already oversized landfills are mind blowing and I couldn’t ever justify buying one. Also, and most importantly is that I like a STRONG cup of coffee and I’ve never found that the Keurig pods had enough coffee grounds in it for me.
Yes, I know they make the reusable cup that you can fill with your own coffee, but they also don’t have the condensed 4ounce option like the Ninja Coffee Bar does.
To learn more about it watch this video.
The Ninja Foodie is a 3 in 1 cooker and EVERYONE should own one. It’s a pressure cooker, slow cooker, and an air fryer all in 1. I seriously use mine 5 nights out of the week and sometimes more.
If you haven’t had homemade French fries in an air fryer you are missing out my friend.
This is kind of a big ticket item but trust me you will get your money’s worth time and time again.
Yep here I go again, another Ninja Kitchen item. I know, I know. I have a problem. Sue me! You may be laughing at me but if you’ve ever used or owned a Ninja Kitchen item then you know why I love them so much. They’re high quality, work great, and last ages.
The Ninja Blenders are no exception. They are a fraction of the price of a Vitamix and (to me) work about as good as one.
I own the Ninja Nutri Blender with AutoIQ you can get it from Amazon here.
Having a griddle cuts down your cooking time so much. Just think about cooking pancakes, bacon, fried tacos, or quesadillas. How long does it usually take you? Now think about how much faster it would be with a griddle since you can cook twice as much (possibly even more) in half the time.
The great thing about griddles is that you can pick one up for super cheap.
WARNING: I have used the griddle you put over 2 burners of your stove and didn’t like it. They didn’t cook even and ended up being a total waste of money.

This vegetable chopper has come in handy so many times. I’ve used it to chop carrots, celery, onions, bell peppers, pickles, zucchini and more.
It’s nice when you want to prep a ton of stuff to freeze because this makes the job 10x easier and faster.
These baking mats make clean up a sinch and you don’t have to worry about things getting stuck to your pan. I mostly use mine for cookies, biscuits, rolls, and more. A couple times a year Costco will have a 3 pack for a super great deal so keep your eyes out.
If you don’t want to wait you can get these.
I hate it when I spend so much time baking only to have my goodies left with soggy bottoms because they started to sweat. A cooling rack completly eliminates this problem.
The reason I say you need 2 sets of measuring cups is because if you cook a decent sized meal or make things regularly from scratch you may use one measuring cup for oil only to realize you need the same size to scoop out flour. Having 2 sets will help avoid this issue.
I also suggest getting sets with the size clearly stamped into them. (As in metal stamping.) I’ve had a few sets were the size is inked on and gets rubbed off in the dishwasher or over time.
A large stock pot will help you cook bigger meals without creating a huge mess by overflowing or boiling over.
This is the one I love!
You could buy pre grated cheese but in my opinion the blocks of cheese taste better and don’t have any added junk to keep them from clumping. You could get a normal grater but the one I suggest is a crank one because I’ve grated my finger 1 too many times and a normal cheese grader scares me.
This one makes it to where I can grate cheese in a fraction of the time and with a quarter of the effort.
Bonus: It’s easy to clean and you can grate small, large, or even slices.
Guys! I swear by this Tupperware. I have the plastic and glass ones and hands down love them. They say you can use the plastic ones in the microwave, but I still don’t. I’ve actually made it a huge rule in my house and so help me God, they will listen or else! I’m kidding, but you ladies get it. No one touches the nice Tupperware.
Unfortunately, messes and kids go together like PB&J. So, you have to have some good kitchen rags to clean up all their messes.
The ones I love are called Wettex and I get them off amazon. They can soak up so much and can be washed time and time again in the washer and dryer. They are designed after the Swedish washcloths.
Take it from a person with experience. GET AN APRON!
Do you want to know how many shirts I’ve ruined or had to rewash multiple times to get cooking stains out? Well I couldn’t tell you even if you asked because I’ve lost track.
I love the idea of having a removable washcloth attached so you can dry your hands or wipe something off your hands quickly. This will be my next purchase or I may have to DIY it since I can’t find one I like.
As moms we’re naturally busy and pulled in so many directions. Anything that will help lessen the time we have to be in the kitchen are, in my book, complete life savers.
So, do yourself a favor and go get yourself a few of these things. Heck get them all! You deserve it! YOU’RE A MOM!
