*Disclaimer! We are no longer fully vegan but we still enjoy these products and continue to eat them all the time!
YOU’RE VEGAN?!? That’s the response I get every time someone finds out my family and I don’t eat meat or dairy. Usually their next response is either, where do you get your protein or there is no way I could do that.
It makes me smile because I totally get where they are coming from. If you would and it was good, but cheese… Ohh I had a deep infatuation with cheese. I loved Queso and could eat it as a meal itself. A snack for me would be a huge chunk of cheese freshly cut from the block. So, giving them up was never something I thought I could, or was willing, to do
Surprise! I did it and in reality, it wasn’t as bad as I had imagined it to be. It did take a few months for me to get over my cheese addiction, and I’m not exaggerating. There’s defiantly a learning curve and the longer you eat a vegan diet the more you learn, the more your taste buds change, and the easier it becomes. Luckily there are tons of vegan alternative options to help you along this journey and I have tried many of them. Here are our favorites.

When it comes to milk alternatives it’s really comes down to ‘taste and see’ what you like. Our favorite is Almond Milk. You can get it sweetened, unsweetened, vanilla or original. We use the sweetened original and sweetened vanilla in our coffee and then we cook/bake with unsweetened original.
My kids drink a combination of soy milk and almond milk. They like that the soy milk since its creamy and I like it since it has protein.
Her are all the alternative milk options.

-Follow Your Heart Vegenaise
*Hellmann’s has a vegan mayo option, but my husband and I don’t like it. My in-laws on the other hand love it, so to each their own.
-Earth Balance Vegan Butter
If you’re a new vegan or wanting to experiment with some vegan alternatives than this list is perfect for you. It’s exactly what I wish I had during the first couple of months I was vegan, because it would have made my cheese cravings SO MUCH EASIER. In the beginning I was so nervous to try any cheese alternatives. It wasn’t until my mother-in-law, 6 months or longer after going vegan, had me try the ‘Creamy Original Chao’ cheese and it was like a God send. I’m pretty sure I even heard the hallelujah course, no joke. So, learn from me and don’t wait to try new things because it just means you will miss out on so much.
Remember these are just our favorites. There are MANY more vegan options these days so branch out and try a few new once each time you go grocery shopping!
