The first day of Summer is right around the corner and what better way to soak up this season than a summer bucket list that the whole family can enjoy!
Now if I’m being honest, I love Fall like head over heels LOVE Fall, but I also have this special relationship with summer that I just can’t deny. Maybe it’s the fact that I was born and raised in Texas so since hot and sunny days are 99% of your weather in any given year, it’s like warm weather just runs in my veins.
So, after a cold winter and rainy spring I’m usually beyond ready for some hot sunny days. I will say though, that as much as I love growing up in Texas and all it had to offer, I really enjoy summers outside the lone star state. Summers in Texas are blistering hot. You have days on end where you reach and surpass 100 degrees. This makes enjoying the outdoors very hard. Who wants to go outside when your sweating in .5 seconds and after just one minute you want to down a whole gallon of water or jump in a pool.
Summers here in Oregon are 10x more enjoyable since the average temperature ranges from 70-80 degrees and 90-100 degree days are few and far between. This fact makes my husband enjoy this season much more than any of our summers we spent together in Texas.
Now that we have kids, 3 girls from newborn to almost 5 years old, means that we really want to capture this summer and all it has to offer before the cold days start creeping back in. Also, my girls are active. Well, the newborn not so much since she isn’t exactly Earth side at the moment I’m writing this. On the other hand, if her constant kicks and wiggles in the womb are any indication of what she will be like then I’m in for a house full of very active girls.
Since my kids wake up going 90 miles an hour, it’s nice to have things to go do during the summer when our mom groups, story time, and other regularly scheduled weekly activities are on hold. This way they don’t get antsy and start acting out with extra tantrums and meltdowns. This is where the Summer Family Bucket List comes into play.
I have created a great Summer Bucket List printable just for you that’s full of great ideas that your kids and even the adults will enjoy. There’s even the option to download a blank one if you want to come up with your own summer adventure list.
I hope this summer we can mark many things off this list, but if I’m being honest I’m sure there are a couple we won’t get to. Why? Well, because we will have a newborn and we all know how life goes during that season, especially if you have toddlers running around as well.
